China and Taliban warn Trump about Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan (Social Media)
International News: China and the Taliban issued warnings on Friday about US President Donald Trump's plan to regain control of Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base. The airbase is strategically important and located very close to the Afghanistan-China border.
During his visit to Britain, Trump stated that he was trying to recapture Bagram Air Base because it is close to China's nuclear weapons manufacturing center. If the plan succeeds, US troops could return to the airbase. The airbase fell to the Taliban after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan four years ago. Previously, the US had maintained control there.
Taliban official Zakir Jalal categorically stated that the Afghan government would not accept any foreign military presence. He stated that this possibility was completely ruled out during the Doha talks and agreements.
China also warned against efforts to increase regional tension. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said in a media briefing that China respects Afghanistan's independence, sovereignty, and regional integrity. He emphasized that Afghanistan's future should be in the hands of Afghan people and all sides should play a creative role for regional peace and stability.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the US is interacting with the Taliban for campaigns against terrorism on Bagram Airbase. Its purpose is to ensure that military activities can operate without increasing regional tension.
Experts believe that the US return plan for Bagram Airbase can not only affect Afghanistan's internal politics, but it can also increase the strategic conflict between China and the US. The Taliban's and China's warnings can play a decisive role in this case.
